Interim Head of School Update – Monday 20th April 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this update finds you and your families well. These past few weeks have certainly been incredibly challenging for everyone!

Ordinarily, this would be the first day of Term 5, an incredibly busy term in the life of any school. It seems very strange to not be preparing for any of these things right now and to not be welcoming all of our pupils back to school, returning after the Easter break.

Thank you for your feedback regarding our home-learning packs. We know that pupils (and parents) have really enjoyed these. This Friday, we plan to prepare new sets of home-learning packs for all of our pupils. These will be available electronically, as before, but should parents want a hard-copy of the resources, these will be available, too, and will be available to be collected on Friday. We are currently working out collection points and times, and intend to share these with you later on in the week. We will only be preparing a limited number of the packs for collection so I would be grateful if you could let us know that you would like one – you can do this by emailing the School Office, who will add your name to a list. The email address is OPAOffice@AuroraAcademies.org

We will continue to use our website and Facebook pages to update you. We are constantly looking for resources and ideas to share with you – if you come across something that you think is worth sharing, please do let us know. From today (Monday 20th April), the BBC has updated its suite of online Bitesize resources and I would encourage you to take a look at these, should you be able to.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the entire staff team here at Oakwood for their commitment and dedication during this time. They have worked hard to support pupils of keyworkers, by running sessions in school (many during the Easter break), and by preparing resources – I’m very grateful to them.

Should you wish to contact us, you can do so by emailing the School Office. In the meantime, I’d like to thank you all for your continued support and kind words! Please take care and stay safe!

With my very best wishes,

Mr Laker
