Interim Head of School Update – Monday 4th May 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this update finds you and your families well. Thank you for all of your messages and support during these unprecedented times. We have received many kind wishes. These have not gone unnoticed and have been shared with staff – thank you!

It has been lovely to see those of you who (at a distance) have been to the school to collect Home Learning Packs. As explained in a previous letter, these will be produced every two weeks, with a selection of homework tasks to be completed at home. We have received some great feedback about these, so I am pleased they have been useful. The next set of Home Learning Packs will be available this Thursday 7th May – this is different from our usual Friday collection day, due to the special VE Day Bank Holiday. If you would like us to print a Home Learning Pack off for you, that you can collect from school on Thursday, please email the School Office ( before Wednesday so that we can get this prepared for you. We will share further details about collection times later this week.

The Government and the DfE continues to update schools and parents with the latest guidance. The most recent update is from Friday 1st May and I have included the link below which will take you straight to the guidance.

As mentioned, Friday 8th May commemorates the 75th Anniversary of VE Day (Victory In Europe), marking the end of World War 2 in Europe. We have attached some resources that you may wish to use at home this week, including some colouring pages (if you’re able to print these off), World War 2 timeline cards and a guide to holding your own VE Day celebrations in your own home. Children enjoy finding out about the events of World War 2 – this is certainly a popular Paragon project in school!

VE DAY: Lockdown Party Ideas

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff who have continued to be at work, keeping the school building open and running for those pupils whose parents are key-workers. It has been an incredible effort and I’m very grateful for their dedication and commitment, whilst continuing to manage the health of their families at home.

I really look forward to seeing you all in the very near future. In the meantime, please stay safe and look after each other.

Best wishes,

Mr R. Laker
