Head of School Update – Friday 11th September 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to my first weekly update of the new school year. I will be sharing a Head of School update every Friday afternoon, which will be posted on the school website and Facebook page.

May I start by saying a huge ‘Thank you’ to all of you for helping us to reopen safely for all pupils this week. It has certainly been a challenge to make sure that we do all we can to minimise the risk of Covid-19 and enable all the pupils to arrive and leave school smoothly. Like many schools, we have had to adapt our plans and will continue to make changes where necessary.

I have spent time checking in with pupils and making sure that they are settled in their new classes. I’ve been very impressed with their positive attitude and how hard they are working for their new teachers. We’ve also welcomed our new Reception starters to school. They’ve enjoyed their morning and afternoon sessions and it’s been great to share their excitement and anticipation.

Over the Summer a lot of decorating took place around the school. Every classroom has received a fresh coat of paint and many carpets and lights were replaced. We also invested in new furniture for Years 5 and 6 and a few pictures of the ‘new’ classrooms will be shared on our Facebook page. I’m sure you’ll agree that the pupils pictured look as smart as their classroom!

In today’s ‘virtual’ ‘Star of the Week’ assembly, we awarded our first set of certificates of the new school year. This week’s certificate winners are:

Y1 Curie Class – Gray H. – For being kind and helpful, for looking after his friends and for always trying his best.
